Joe has been playing drums since 1980 when he took home a rented Ludwig Acrolite snare drum from grade school. Studying at Roosevelt University, he became ingrained in the music scene in Chicago in the 1990’s. He was a longstanding member of the band Califone and currently plays with Iron & Wine. He has played and recorded with many other bands and artists including Orso, The Fire Show, Chadwick Stokes, Clarence Bucaro, Rebecca Gates, Freakwater, Bevel, Margo and the Nuclear So and So’s, Manischevitz, Sonoi, Adam Busch.
